Abstract :
China is experiencing a very rapid phase of development in the optical fibre network. Recent years saw the completion of many long-distance fibre-optic cable trunks, bringing the total length of China´s fibre-optic cable to 70000 km, connecting all the 29 provinces. A fibre-optic cable network with Beijing as the centre has been primarily formed. The successful opening of some 2.4 Gb/s SDH systems in 1995 marked a higher step in the nation´s trunk telecommunications technology. To upgrade the basic telecommunications network, the building of the SDH network, CCS No.7 network and monitoring and control network has been accelerated. As a part of CNII (China National Information Infrastructure), a new development of fibre-optic cable network has been planned.
