Abstract
A "Chinese DAISY Reader" based on the Android smart phone was designed and developed. the main functions of this device include DAISY digital talking book player, bookmark add and access, as well as voice record and play. This paper describes a user interface with an easy-to-distinguish layout, auditory output and gestural input that enables visually impaired subjects to interact with touch screen on the smart phone. a usability study was also reported that the user interface of this DAISY reader is easy-to-use and acceptable for visually impaired.
