Abstract :
A method of generating multiple carrier signal tones for a wideband QPSK modulator is developed. Multiple wideband tones spanning over several GHz bandwidths are generated using a mixture of single sideband (SSB) mixers and a band selection switching network. Compared with traditional ultra-wideband (UWB) communication systems, the proposed method requires relatively narrowband components only and can be directly applied for implementing a multiband ultra-wideband (UWB) communication system. A full UWB radio block is implemented using off-the-shelf discrete components and tested.
