  • Abstract
    Accurate identifying the characteristics of the earthquakes plays a significant role in scientific cataloguing, seismology and seismic monitoring and forecasting. In recent years, the establishment of large-scale digital seismic network has created better conditions for accurate discrimination of natural earthquakes and explosion or blast earthquakes. But until now, it is still a technical challenge for researchers to identify tectonic earthquakes from the explosion or blast earthquakes accurately and automatically. We developed an efficient recognition aid toolbox for classification of explosions/blasts and tectonic earthquakes. In the paper, we summarized identification methods which the toolbox adopts and explained its development and associative functions. The toolbox can be used by regional seismic networks for events classification and it helps the seismic networks to launch relevant researches and identification work and promotes the development of events identification methods. This is of certain practical meanings, for it has further improved the recognition rate of explosion events, enhanced the actual classification ability of seismic networks significantly. The toolbox has been tested and applied on several seismic networks, and it is playing its positive function now.
