Abstract :
In this paper, a concept of a novel UWB positioning system is presented, which satisfies the regulation for extremely low power radio systems in Japan. The spectrum mask of this regulation does not have deep notches unlike the ones for UWB systems. Therefore, the proposed UWB transmitter does not require a special pulse signal generator and a filter. The proposed system generates a pulse with the digital circuits. These conditions ease the requirements of the analog circuits and leads to low cost UWB devices. As the transmission power is quite limited, the proposed UWB devices can be implemented in RF tags or other small devices with small batteries.
