Abstract :
A novel, nonlinear loop mirror configuration formed with dispersion-tapered fiber is presented. Directional dispersion asymmetry produces conventional intensity-dependent switching and new, pulse-width-dependent switching. This enables applications in variable pulse-width demultiplexing, pulse shaping/filtering, pulse-width stabilization, etc.
