Abstract :
An 8/spl times/8 optical matrix switch is demonstrated on X-cut, Z-propagating Ti:LiNbO/sub 3/. Two stage Ti indiffusion technique is employed to fabricate low loss optical waveguides. The switch with a simplified tree structure, showed polarization independent and DC-drift free operation with a switching voltage of 47 V.
