Abstract
In this paper, the authors present a tutoring system that uses several media features in order to improve the learning techniques of a course. This tutoring system featured by speech recognition and virtual reality has been created to support the "Signal Analysis" course. This "Signal Analysis" course is given in undergraduate teaching of Electronics Engineering at Autonomous Metropolitan University campus Azcapotzalco (UAM-Azcapotzalco) in Mexico-City. This tutorial is capable of admitting spoken commands as a manner of moving through different sections of the application; a virtual world with information about the course is represented by VRML technology; and there is an evaluation section to test user\´s learning of the tutorial\´s content. Therefore, a control performance of every user registered in the application is applied (after each evaluation, this tutorial can decide if the student has to return to the same chapter or to continue to next chapter). The whole tutorial was integrated with Authorware of Macromedia. An explanation procedure of speech recognition in Authorware is given, and the virtual world\´s interface with Authorware is also explained.
