  • Abstract
    We review the design and fabrication of integrated laser-modulator sources for 10 Gbit/s applications. System requirements for a 100 km transmission span over standard dispersion fiber are presented as well as their translation into device requirements. 120 km transmission in a linear propagation regime has been achieved with an excellent received optical power sensitivity of -30 dBm. The reliability tests of integrated devices are discussed.
