Abstract :
We analyze the effect of cross-phase modulation (XPM) on IM/DD WDM transmission using numerical simulation, and provide the XPM limitation on WDM transmission with 1-dB penalty in a normalized form. We also investigate the effect of XPM on the dispersion compensated transmission in terms of the location and amount of compensation.
