Abstract :
Room-temperature continuous wave operation of vertical cavity lasers at both 1.3 and 1.5 /spl mu/m wavelength has been demonstrated recently. This achievement is an important milestone in the development of such lasers. The key factors that need to be considered for the fabrication and optimization of high temperature long wavelength vertical cavity lasers are discussed in this paper.
