Abstract :
Recently, Bluetooth, enabling easy connection among various mobile devices, has become more attractive. However, channel interference becomes large as the communication traffic increases. Especially, a Bluetooth network (called a piconet) is often comprised of only own devices. Therefore, channel interference in a hot spot is serious. We propose to apply universal timing synchronization to target Bluetooth devices as a method to reduce channel interference. The proposed method changes to a semi-synchronous state between target piconets, and collision of packets from different piconets becomes small. But, semi-synchronization may damage Bluetooth communication within a piconet due to a synchronization gap. We show that our method is effective for channel interference reduction on Bluetooth. We describe the universal timing synchronization, the measurement of channel interference to compare an existing and the proposed system, and the measurement of packet error rate with the synchronization gap.
