Abstract :
This paper describes how small companies may minimize their exposure to expenditure on EMC testing services and equipment. Its purpose is to show how companies making low risk equipment may gain confidence in their products EMC performance such that the CE mark may confidently be applied. The purpose of the testing described is to increase confidence in existing suppositions. These tests can not be regarded as being substitutes for testing on equipment which it anticipated will be EMC active. If a small manufacturer is making an electrically simple piece of equipment that contains no electrically nonlinear components, then by utilising the tests described the manufacturer may gain sufficient confidence in the product to place it onto the market, or into service, without unnecessary expenditure
