Abstract :
We introduce the NHK STRL mid-to long-term vision and describe several broadcasting systems using microwaves and millimeter waves. The NHK Science and Technical Research Laboratories (STRL) examined present research themes and approaches, and the roles of the NHK STRL in view of the expected environment of broadcasting in 10 to 15 years, and compiled its concepts as the "NHK STRL Mid-to Long-Term Vision". The mid-to long-term vision consists of three research pillars: (a) studies for advanced ISDB; (b) studies for contents production technologies; and (c) studies for future broadcasting services and fundamental technologies.
