Abstract :
Transformers winding axial displacement are considered one of the main causes of their failure. Nowadays, several methods have been developed to detect these faults in transformers. In some of these methods, transformers should be used off-line and another method can be implemented when the transformers are under load. Off-line methods reduce system reliability and increase cost. To overcome the above problems, on-line fault detection methods should be used. Hence, in this paper a new online method for diagnosing transformer winding axial displacement is presented. Positioning sensor has high accuracy and low cost, therefore it is used for detecting the fault extent in transformers.
