Abstract
A communication system has been demonstrated using surface acoustic wave (SAW) correlators in a direct conversion, ultra-wideband architecture. High frequency SAW correlators were used to passively detect a BPSK input signal and provide a direct RF-to-baseband conversion. SAW correlators were used to build transmitters and receivers with 3.3%, 12.5%, 25%, and 50% fractional bandwidths centered at 900 MHz and 2.45 GHz.
