  • Abstract
Mechanical ventilation and oxygen supplementation are considered as crucial to the care of premature infants with severe lung disease. The purpose of this study is to initiate the assessment of the efficiency of two techniques combined; the automatic control of mechanical ventilation as well as closed-loop control of the inspired fraction of oxygen (FIO2). The simulation results show a definite advantage by using the advanced automatic techniques compared with the conventional manual methods
