Abstract
Determination of basin maximum discharge is an important task for the design of hydraulic structures. However, the lack of sufficient and long-term hydrological data in many situations is a major threat to start new projects. Regional flood analysis is as an appropriate method to determine the flood discharge in stations without enough data. An important task in this modelling is to determine the homogeneous regions. Several methods exist to determine the homogenous regions such as flood index, langebin, cluster analysis and region of influence. In this study, homogenous regions were determined by langebin, cluster analysis and region of influence and these methods were compared by standard deviation. Finally, the region of influence method was selected as the best method to determine the homogeneous regions in Urmia Lake Catchment, north-west of Iran.
