Abstract :
The use of smartphones is becoming more pervasive with the launch of applications that can handle every aspect of life. These applications range from simple calender management to more sensitive on-line banking. As a result, the security of these applications is becoming more important day after day. In this paper, the new challenges and factors associated with mobile applications and their security will be highlighted. We focus on malware and phishing attacks, and argue how solutions for regular computers are, in many cases, inapplicable for smartphones. We survey the currently available solutions and conclude with a discussion on open problems and possible future work.
