Abstract :
The CSRZ-DQPSK modulation format has been used to transmit a total of 40 Gbit/s/wavelength using two states of polarisation and a spectral efficiency of 1.6 bit/s Hz for a transmission distance of approximately 1000 km. Compared to 40 Gbit/s ETDM, the format demonstrated a much better tolerance to chromatic dispersion and PDM. The required technologies, the system performance in terms of receiver sensitivity, dispersion tolerance, nonlinear tolerance and spectral efficiency are addresses. This paper demonstrated that the CSRZ-DQPSK modulation format is suitable for highly efficient long haul system applications.
