Abstract
Multi-criteria sorting problems consist in assignment of some alternatives to some predefined and preference-ordered decision classes. The alternatives are described by a finite set of attributes and criteria. The domains of criteria are totally ordered by preference relations. In order to infer a preference model from exemplary decision made by decision makers on some reference alternatives, the dominance matrix and the dominance function are used to compute a set of "if... then..." decision rules that could be used to support the sorting task. Then, an extension of the classification scheme is introduced to sort new objects. In the scheme, both consistency decision rules and inconsistency ones are considered. An example is used for illustration of the sorting method.
