Abstract
For ideal color reproduction on Wide Gamut Displays, a multi-level gamut extension method is introduced. The proposed method includes varying nonlinear extension based on hue and image-dependent chrominance smoothing. The first step is global gamut mapping and solves heavily painted problem with hue-varying extension function. The second step is local gamut mapping and avoids over-contrast problem by retaining local contrast information. The proposed gamut extension algorithm can be applied in any device-independent color space, such as CIE-Lab, CIE-LUV space.
