Abstract
Using the Gini coefficient assessment method and taking six big ports in Liaoning Province as samples and port freight volume as the basic indicator, spatial structure characteristics of the port system in Liaoning Province and the tendency are examined. In the research it is noted that the spatial structure of Liaoning Province port system tends to disperse as a whole. The scattered speed is steadier, but the division of the function tends to be specialized and centralized. As a whole, Dalian Port and Yingkou Port can be presented as the major ports, Jinzhou port and Dandong port as important ports, and Huludao port and Panjin port as general ports, which is called "222" spatial level pattern.
