Abstract :
Internet-enabled supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis have been widely used in modern industrial manufacturing, as they are capable of providing more efficient and reliable decision making support. More recently, with the appearance of inexpensive sensors, microprocessors, and actuators, distributed and embedded systems are under rapid development, where real-time constraints should be carefully considered when designing such networked safety-critical systems. In the paper, various issues in designing an effective SCADA system for industrial condition monitoring and fault diagnostics is discussed in detail, especially on its crucial issues and state of the art in the recent decade.
