Abstract :
With growing popularity of mobile devices and wireless communications, in-vehicle navigation system has changed substantially in recent years. How to real-time dynamic display on spatial data in telematics terminals is one of the key problems in car navigation services. In this paper, first, we present a vector map data channel based on distributed tri-tier client-server system architecture to transmit vector data for visual navigation, and spatial data is organized in hierarchical and is stored in MRDB beforehand. Second, we describe dynamic display strategies including dual buffer pond strategy, pre-fetching and pre-drawing strategy for the performance improvement in telematics terminals. At last, in term of driver´s point of view, we discuss the effectiveness of a variety of contextually optimized route map visualizations in dynamic navigational interface
