Abstract
The interaction of Lamb waves with crack-like defects in steel plates is investigated both numerically and experimentally. Excellent agreement between the predicted and measured transmission ratios is obtained, and it is shown that Lamb waves may be used to detect defects when the ratio of wavelength to defect depth is as high as 40
