Abstract
We are currently studying the application of RFID technology to ITS with the aim of reducing traffic accidents near intersections. In this paper, we report on an experimental system that senses the presence of pedestrians as well as their position then sends the data to an on-board device which alerts the driver. Additionally, we describe an inter-vehicle multi-hop broadcasting transmission system in which each vehicle includes a repeater function for provision of the alert information to vehicles further away
