Abstract :
The global position system (GPS) plays an important role in the intellectual traffic system. Due to the low power of its signals, GPS applications are sensitive to any signals emitted in the GPS frequency band. Especially the ultra wide band (UWB) device in the vehicle is one great interference source. This paper evaluates the level of interference caused by UWB pulse signals to GPS radio systems. The interference is calculated in GPS frequency band as a function of the UWB PRF. In the short range and high signal strength regime, the GPS signal strength for a fixed BER is inversely proportional to the UWB PRF. The effect of UWB PRF decreased equals to the effect of power added for the GPS radio, which increases the GPS applications dependability
