Abstract
The space distribution of the whole field at successive instants of time inside and outside a fluid-filled borehole in an elastic medium radiated by an acoustic source on the axis of the borehole is numerically calculated. The results reveal the structure of the field and show that the field is formed mainly by two mechanisms, the interaction of the acoustic wave with the borehole boundary and the interference among all wave components
