Abstract
The current generation of wireless systems has concentrated on the development of new standards (e.g., GRPS, WCDMA, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11, etc.) and hardware. The so-called fourth generation (4G) systems will not only be concerned with furthering such a development but also pay significant attention to the integration of the underlying technologies to allow any user to use any and any where. Furthermore, 4G systems will provide and integrate multimedia services to cater to personalized needs of users. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the capability of artificial neural networks (ANN) in solving problems related to the 4G systems and especially the multiple access techniques used for the physical layer. We propose also a systolic architecture for the neural processor adapted to a hardware implementation
