Abstract :
The consortium for advanced semiconductor materials and related technologies (CASMAT) was established in March 2003 to enable innovating material development efficiency and to open a market for new materials. Major Japanese manufacturers of semiconductor materials sponsor the consortium to strengthen their competitiveness in the global market. The member companies develop the materials themselves, and supply them to CASMAT, who evaluates the materials and returns the findings to the members. CASMAT is supported by the ministry of economy, trade and industry (METI) and the new energy and industrial technology development organization (NEDO). It has been focusing on developing systematic evaluation methods of advanced semiconductor materials and also developing integrated solutions with those materials in the device manufacturing process.
