Abstract :
Space-time block coding (STBC) is used in wireless communication systems to provide transmit diversity. However, performance can be severely degraded when strong localized interference is present. This problem is investigated here using a recently proposed coherent STBC decoding algorithm for interference suppression. The performance improvement with turbo coding is determined. Coding gains over an uncoded system are shown to exceed 8 dB at a bit error rate of 10-3.
