Abstract
In this paper we develop and apply an empirical Hankel norm model reduction technique to a Galerkin model. The latter is obtained by projecting the governing equations of a nonlinear convective flow on its proper orthogonal decomposition basis. The nonlinear convective flow is chosen as a prototype problem and has the same nonlinearity as the Navier-Stokes equations which govern general fluid flows.
