Abstract :
A novel QAM coherent subcarrier multiplexing system which is based on heterodyne detection is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. At the transmitter side, intermediate frequency carrier modulation which is used for subcarrier enables demodulation of QAM with heterodyne detection. The experiment and theoretical simulation show that the coherent optical system operating for multi-channel using QAM modulation format achieves high spectral efficiency and has excellent performance in demodulation of QAM signals.
