Abstract
This paper considers the problem of deploying a mobile sensor network in an unknown environment. A mobile sensor network is composed of a distributed collection of nodes, each of which has sensing, computation, wireless communication and locomotion capabilities. In this paper, an optimal distribution algorithm based on genetic algorithm is proposed during the initial planning phase in sensor network. Simulation output shows that the algorithm can achieve optimal node distribution in the target area and improve the sensor ability of the whole network at a low cost relatively
