Abstract
As a transmitting/receiving system for long-range underwater acoustic imaging, the shape of a lens attached to the disk transducer, the shape of a relatively small reflector, and the transducer positioning are optimized so that a plane wave is generated at the plane bounded by the circularly symmetrical reflector edge. The actual field distribution on the aperture plane and the beam patterns at far points are computed. Also an experimental system was fabricated and the experimental results are reported
