Abstract
Transition points occur at locations where rows or columns of edge elements change state. Based on these occurrences, a method for encoding boundary maps was previously proposed. In this paper we review the fundamental ideas of this technique and describe a new encoding strategy for closed boundaries, which compares favorably with the generic strategy originally proposed
