Abstract
Two approaches to the coding of segmentation maps are proposed. Both use the MPEG-4 binary shape coding algorithm. The first approach does so in a straightforward way, whereas the second is more subtle and relies on the 4-colorability of planar graphs. The two approaches are compared for an automatically segmented video sequence
