Abstract :
This paper considers the application of dual predictive control to fault tolerant control. The main features of the controller introduced are: (i) it exercises caution based on model uncertainty and (ii) it also tends to produce control inputs which improve estimation performance. Compromise between control performance and online modelling are the characteristics that make the scheme suitable in fault tolerant control. After the description of the theory a simulation illustrates the usefulness of the technique when a fighter aircraft dynamical malfunction occurs
