Abstract :
An access control scheme is developed for voice/video/data integrated wireless code division multiple access (CDMA) systems. The scheme involves predicting the residual capacity available for non real-time data traffic based on Gaussian approximation. Besides, a new performance measure called outage bandwidth efficiency is defined to describe the percentage of bandwidth which can be effectively utilized. Simulation results indicate that, compared with the existing access control scheme, significant improvement in overall system performance, including outage probability and outage bandwidth efficiency, can be achieved with the proposed access control scheme
