Abstract :
A novel device is presented and simulated to perform the all optical switch by utilizing the cascaded silicon on insulator (SOI) and semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) optical waveguides, in which both controlling and signal pulses are co-propagating. Simulation results show that the all optical switch behavior with ultra-high on/off ratio can be easily achieved by adjusting the initial delay time (the negative initial delay-signal pulse before controlling pulse, and the positive initial delay-signal pulse after controlling pulse).
