Abstract :
The advent of photonic crystal fibers with their novel optical properties has brought many significant advantages to the field of high power fiber lasers and amplifiers, which are gaining more and more interest for different applications. Er and Yb-doped large mode area are particularly promising, since they allow to reach high power levels avoiding nonlinear effects, and to greatly improve the thermal conductivity.
