Abstract :
This paper presents a narrow-band bandpass FIR filter design with a small number of multipliers per output sample (NMPS). The proposed method is based on the use of the pipelining/interleaving (PI) technique within a quadrature modulation structure, where only one narrow-band lowpass filter is required. In order to reduce the NMPS, the narrow-band lowpass filter is designed with an interpolated finite impulse response (IFIR) filter. The interpolating filter is implemented by using a sharpened cascade integrator comb (CIC) filter. This results in a considerable reduction of complexity.
