  • Abstract
The EBG waveguide-based interconnects are rectangular waveguides formed in a substrate by using electromagnetic bandgap sidewalls. They can be incorporated in planar circuits at a low cost by using PCB technology. The first example of employing a waveguide-based interconnect in a high-speed digital system is demonstrated in this paper. The driver and receiver stages of the system are redesigned to enable transmission of baseband signals using a bandpass channel. The quality of data transmission in this system is inspected in comparison with that of a dual system containing embedded microstrip lines
