Abstract :
An electronic realization of an antipodal hyperchaos shift keying communication system [described in Kolumbin and Kennedy, 2000] has been constructed. The design uses a linear observer circuit as presented in [Miller and Grassi, 2001] for coherent detection of a hyperchaotic oscillator carrier. For comparison a sinusoidal signal was used for both the carrier and the receiver demodulation reference. A simple noise source was used to corrupt the communications channel. Bit error rate (BER) results indicate that the hyperchaotic observer has sufficient accuracy to be used for coherent demodulation. Future work is required for a more precise characterization.
