Abstract
Relationships exist between the proportion of different land cover components and small, but consistent variations in broadband albedo acquired during the Grassland PROVE ´97 Jornada field campaign. The authors form a linear mixture model relating ground-based measurements of broadband albedo to proportions of land cover components derived from classified hemispherical photography. Through the quantitative modelling, they identify that solar zenith angle and soil moisture effects require careful consideration when acquiring ground based measurements to explain the spatial variability of albedo
