Abstract :
The concept of a structured distributed shared memory in which memory units are objects is introduced. The coherence of object replicas is maintained by type-specific coherence protocols that are based on the semantics of operations on objects. The aim is to reduce message traffic and operation latency in many common situations. The protocols subsume traditional distributed shared memory protocols based on the read/write model
