Abstract
Hemoglobin content can be measured on a variety of devices. Noninvasive pulse CO-oximetry represents the latest development in hemoglobin measuring technology. The noninvasive technology and provides continuous monitoring in comparison to invasive and discrete techniques used in other methods. In addition to a summary of correlation studies, a review of the measurement principles and inherent error in the methods will help determine if implementation is truly cost efficient and advantageous to the patient.
