Abstract :
Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) as a new type of access network technology has been applied to the LAN and core network. Its energy saving efficiency will not only directly affect the performance of the network, but also will restrict the development of environment. This paper proposes a new type of energy efficient mechanism which takes all factors such as the traffic of OLT(Optical Line Terminal) and the traffic of ONU(Optical Network Unit) into consideration, and applies mathematical ideas about classified discussion to distribute the uplink TS(time-slot) to ONUs on the basis of the original structure. So as to make the sleep time of system is the most reasonable and the QoS (Quality of Service) is satisfied as well.
