Abstract :
The work developed and proposed in this paper deals with innovative control schemes applied to synchronous generators. In particular, the FeedBack Linearization (FBL) technique and the Sliding Mode (SM) method have been applied to regulate voltage and electric power. To do this, the basic equations of the generator have been re-formulated into the so-called normal form and, next, a proper state transformation and a suitable control law have been defined. Starting from this form, the SM algorithm has then been used in order to take into account possible model and parametric uncertainties. Several tests have been performed to highlight merits and drawbacks of both techniques, compared with the traditional regulation scheme.
